I am a retired teacher/ administrator with a BA in Psychology, an MA in English and Post Grad hours in School Technology/Gifted & Talented. My English Degree specialty is Medieval Literature and I studied Beowulf and Old English as a Fellow for the National Endowment for the Humanities.
I created and maintain the Podcast Back Window. It is a combination of remembrances and conclusions drawn from my time growing up in in a small Southern town in the middle of the Twentieth Century. I also produce a blog of the same name with the scripts of my podcasts. There are currently eighty-plus episodes of more or less 1500 words each.
During my teaching career I taught Honors and college prep English but I also taught journalism, drama, and video production. I developed and wrote newsletters for two schools, and the Chester County School District. Along with my career in secondary and elementary education, I taught courses for York Technical College and Francis Marion College. As Director of Public Information, I successfully developed all materials and wrote all copy for two successful Public School Bond Referenda.
I served for six years in the South Carolina National Guard with my final two years as non-comissioned officer and tank commander. I worked with the Boy Scouts of America as an assistant scout master over several years. I have served on the Board of Trustees for the Fort Mill Community Playhouse, the York County Historical and Genealogy Society. and the Fort Mill History Museum. My wife Cheryl and I established, wrote and produced a newsletter for the local History Museum.
